Assassin's Creed Origins
« on: 06 February 2018, 08:51: PM »
I normally wouldn't post a review for a game like this but oh my god its fun. The graphics are some of the best i have ever seen in a game.

The fighting is a bit clunky but when you can ride a Camel Unicorn with a rainbow mohawk while dressed as the Mummy who the hell cares, before you all think i have lost it check out the pics

Gotta give that 11/10 for environment graphics - it does look beautiful.

Are you enjoying the gameplay?

its amazing the story is really good but the main thing is they have put allot of work into this the hieroglyphics are actually real, they have scanned the real temples in Egypt and put them in to the game. I have already been into the tomb of Thutmosis III.

I may get this to play over the spring/summer months - when I'm mostly without internet good enough for online gaming.

Looking on the store there are a lot of options ranging from £8 up to £50, although it looks good there's no way I can spend that much.

Couldn't see the £8 offering, but for £50 (Standard Edition) you do get a lot of game, not just the story campaign. I need 27 more Uplay points to get to 100, which I can then use to get 20% off any purchase, but to get those, I need to play some games I'm not that fussed on, and I really fancy putting money into getting FarCry 5.

Have they fixed the performance of this game yet?

I got this for free when I got my SSD but because of the severe performance issues, like a 1080Ti at 1080p getting around 30fps and using 100% CPU usage, 100% ram usage even on systems with 64Gb and 100% GPU usage.

Just to show how stunning this game is, I thought I would make a vid, For me its not just about the looks but the ambient sounds too.

The draw distance and detail is very impressive, you can literally see everything for miles around.

http://store.steampowered.com/search/?term=Assassin%27s+Creed+Origins

So what's what ?

The £8.69 thing is a DLC add-on. I think the Deluxe pack is not worth bothering with, just one extra mission and some in-game bling.
For 49.99, you get the base game
For 34.99, you get all existing and future DLC

Added up and rounded to nice numbers, that's a tad under £94 for everything.
On Uplay store you can get the gold edition (which is base game + Deluxe pack + Season pass) for £75
Base game on Uplay is same as Steam (£50)

It'll probably be a year before this drops in price (it's a very popular franchise and holds it's value for quite a while), but may be worth keeping an eye on CJs keys etc for discounts.

The best thing is the city i showing the video is just one and it is massive but the game covers over a 1000 miles and takes to run from one side to the other 3 hours.

It looks like it might be good but oh dear god you need to use a higher bitrate, looks like 2000Kbp/s, for youtube and a game like that you need to be really overkilling the bitrate to get around, youtubes crappy conversion.

I use MP4 as the wrapper with a X264 codec and 50Mbp/s bitrate 60fps, yes it causes the files to be MASSIVE but it's worth it so they are not blocky and pixelated at 1080p.
