It's the mod that Call of Duty 4 has been waiting for: Galactic Warfare (or Star Wars™ but it can't be called that due to copyright stuff). We've installed it onto our custom server.

Thanks very much to the efforts of the guys over at blackmonkeys the Galactic Warfare mod has been publicly released in beta. As it is beta that means there might be a couple of bugs some where. More importantly it also means that they might have some additional stuff up their sleeves for later versions. For example there is currently no support for helicopters (or a replacement for them).

This really is a complete conversion of CoD4. Weapons, Sounds, Uniforms, even airstrikes. The whole look and feel of the thing is awesome. Play for the Imperial Forces or Rebel Alliance. The mod supports all the standard game types including Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Headquarters, Sabotage, Domination, Search and Destroy plus Catch The Flag.

Unfortunately there is currently only one customised map, Tatooine. Initially we'll be running only that, but it's well worth it as it's so well crafted and enhances the customisation. Many standard and custom maps aren't guaranteed to work with the Galactic Wars mod because of the extent of the rewrite, but we will experiment as soon as possible.

As ever our server has fast downloading available. If you don't have the mod or maps, your game can download it all for you automatically provided you have it set to allow downloads in your game option settings.

We like our servers to be cheat free. Punkbuster is enabled and it streams with pbbans.

Just been on and got my ass kicked by the bot. If Zingle says he's out of practice then I shudder to think how dangerous he'd be once he's warmed up

Server soon attracted another couple of players too.

I will look at other getting other maps to run later this evening. Meanwhile clanners can use rcon to change the gametypes if they wish.

Ive got 3 other mods and 3 other maps based around this. I am not sure how they have done it this way

The swm file appears to be the same with a few other files? each of these I had to download when I went on the different servers.

I can sort you out the files excluding the swm if you want?

I literally installed the game yesterday and played about 4 rounds on it.

I think in the last 6 months ive played about 10 rounds online before this on Cod 4 and possibly a few on WaW but thats is

There may be slightly different versions of the customisation out there. Customisations can themselves be customised, if you know how. But equally if you are runing default as I beleive we are the servers should be setup with the same mod name and not require additional downloads. But then we are talking computers that have a mind of their own

The maps may or may not work. No idea till we try. It may depend on whether there have been any changes to the mod by others. If you let me have the links to the maps I'll have a look and see what will work.

Just a quick heads up, just been on a server and PB kept flashing up warnings of the server being banned, is this due to the mod / map or other ?
