Post Probs with PB kicking

Hi all,

I thought i'd ask you guys as there seems to be a few of you up on all this kinda stuff..

Punkbuster !!

Me, mrs Fookaa and a few others keep getting kicked by PB for various things occasionally and im starting to wonder why lol ...

It's not constantly but prob at least once a day. And it's been for things such as disallowed program drivers, curupted packet flow and some others i forget now.

I have this auto PB update tool which tells us its up to date. And our server streams to PBBans but i don't think it's that doing it .

Just wondered if any of you have had any issues, it seems it's only recently started happening ??

Cheers in advance chaps

Re: Probs with PB kicking

i had the disallowed program drivers one the other week. turned out for me that it was having steam running at the same time for the overlay just after a steam update. that's the only time i've had a problem with PB though myself

Re: Probs with PB kicking

One or two of us do occasionally have problems with it. The only time I get a problem is when I need to update it but others here have had problems that seem unfixable......PB seems to be like a force of nature, unfathomable and sometimes randomly destructive

I often wonder how much it can be affected by antivirus scanners and other security software. After all Punkbuster is working at that level if it's got to see things wrong with the gameplay.

Re: Probs with PB kicking

over the last couple of weeks, I was getting kicked a lot for either 'corrupted packet flow' or losing key packets, but a reboot of my modem seems to have alleviated that problem
Have had a few probs with my isp's connection recently, so that may all be related

Re: Probs with PB kicking

Yep PB defo has a mind of its own lol...

Well i tried summink out tonight and so far so good ...

Basically, i went into my game root folder, then removed the entire PB folder. Then i used the PB Setup tool to search for updates which put a new PB folder in my game.

Never got kicked at all tonight so fingers crossed it might of done the trick, ill let ya know

Re: Probs with PB kicking

Weird how some have the issue and some don't. I don't recall ever getting an issue with it.

Re: Probs with PB kicking

well I got kicked again last nite for 'losing key packets', auto 2min ban by pb grrr.
Quick reboot of my modem and all was fine for the rest of the nite.
(reboot was quick enough for mirc not to time me out as well, which was a result, TS didn't like it tho hehe)
so I'm thinking that the 'key packets' thing is dodgy isp connection :/
strange thing is that run > pingtest.net on serveral different uk/eu servers and all report 0% packet loss even tho cod4/pb seem to be losing them

Re: Probs with PB kicking

well got a general kick for authenication tonight, 3 times in 20 mins. what gets me is that i played for at least half an hour lastnight without issue - although it did kick me a couple of times.

so last thing to last resort - completely unistall the game and anything to do with the game and anything pb and pb related, ran tune-up & ccleaner just to make sure that either hadn't missed something.

now i can't be arsed, will have to wait till tomorrow night for a reinstall. if that don't work then i don't know what (does the same on my xp partition).
