I have had dealings with I3D in the past and they are a dutch gsp with a big European influence now a days.
looking at the website and the prices dont look too bad me thinks

have a look on www.i3d.net and make sure you put the language to English...

Language is set to English (OK USA flag).  Even selecting a server in London location gets pricing in euro.  Useless for UK as that bumps up any costs what with exchange currency, and you won't even get consistency as rates will change with renewals.

Didn't we have some dealings with Multiplay a few years ago? I've got them in my Spam Filter for email as I seem to get several mails a week from them.

I seem to recall being suitably underwhelmed with them for some reason.

This seems to be a really short sighted move from EA :( Granted they're a big multinational corporate syndicate but in the past I've always got the impression that they at least paid lip service to listening to what their customers had to say :( Now as some one said elsewhere it just seems that they want to listen to the whingers who contribute little but hassle.

well the initial gsp has been released, and as feared gaming deluxe isn't on it but multiplay are.

looks like no dedi box for us for BF4 then.... looked @ GameServers.com and their server would come to £150 p/m but that is for the following:

 E3-1240v2
3.4Ghz Quadcore
32GB
120GB SSD
15TB Data

and includes 256 slots bf3 servers..... and quite a few other games as well....

but from looking at the options not much left for us. checked with i3d and they aren't supporting dedi's for BF3 or 4

We will have to wait for these providers to give details on pricing.  Until then we can't make any decision on what we3 might want and what we can afford.

Multiplay have announced pricing with a 10% discount for pre-orders
64 slot BF3, 1 month £57.60 after "incentives"
64 slot BF4, 1 month £63.36 after "incentives"
So that's a 10% increase in their rental prices, although a good part of that will be an increase in the EA/DICE licence.  But it also indicates the problem now there are only a few GSPs to choose from.  In any case I want to avoid multiplay as there seem to be too many negative comments on their support, they are also not recognised for Procon hosting.

With GamingDeluxe, paid 3 monthly, it costs the clan around £83 a month to run a box that has a total of 112 BF3 slots (over 3 games), and I suspect it could be pushed harder, 32 slot CoD4, 32 slot Teamspeak, Procon layer hosting and a separate website.  Somebody please tell us where we can get close to similar value and service with the restricted GSP list :(

In our dreams?

Seriously though, what are the options for UK hosting?

As I understand it, we will need game hosting + procon, teamspeak and web hosting for the forum?

Of the limited list of GSPs - what is your least undesirable option MGP? Or do we need to wait for a few more pricing announcements from others first?

We need a lot more pricing options before we can even start any decision on what we might do.  Most of the GSPs seem to be waiting until mid October, after the beta, before they will say anything concrete, probably in case the beta throws up anything unusual on resources needed.

I think there might be a need for a clan meeting on teamspeak ?

While gaming clans bow down to EA then this will never change. The very fact you are having this discussion shows EA are getting their own way.

You could vote with your feet or search out a nearly empty UK server and all just play on that

And in an ideal world we would boycott the game.  It isn't an ideal world.  We don't want to change, but are presented with little choice.  Personally I am one of the few who has made the most noise about this sorry state of affairs on the internet as a whole - numerous posts on Battlelog, IGN, Procon, pbans, and whose text was copied to make up the change.org petition.  I don't like it, want to stay with our current GSP but find myself backed into a corner presented with a simple take it or leave it choice.  And that leave it is probably not an option as I enjoy (in some perverse way) multiplayer FPS gaming but as yet don't see any alternative game that would appeal to myself, and the rest of our community.  And yes EA/DICE are banking on this scenario of punters having no real choice and jumping in like a flock of sheep.

Having our own server does give us a proper say in the gametype, map, server settings, etc.  Inevitably as a group you can arrive on an empty server, but once players are on others will join.  That's not a problem if they want to play the game, but if they don't want to, that's when having some admin rights is beneficial.

Even so, no decision has been made on what if any server we will be running for BF4.  Equally it is also apparent that once BF4 exists there will be less use of our current servers (although the extent of that is as yet unclear), so there will probably be little point in keeping it.  In due course a decision will have to be made, on what we do and don't want. but it's still to premature to do that.
